Freshmen: The Faith Retreat. Held on campus: 2020-2021 dates TBD. The class will be divided in two parts - one half will take their retreat while the other half does their college visit, and vice versa on the second day. This retreat allows freshmen to consider and develop tools of faith, particularly the sacraments of the Church, that will allow them to better adapt and live out the life of a Lasallian Catholic student at San Miguel.
Sophomores: The Community Retreat. Held on campus: 2020-2021 dates TBD. As with the freshmen, the class will be divided - one half will take their retreat while the other half does their college visit, and then vice versa. This retreat focuses on the building of a community of believers in Christ and how to live as a Lasallian community on campus and in the world.
Juniors: The Service Retreat. Held both on and off campus (we will be visiting various service sites - which site depends on your group assignment), with 2020-2021 dates TBD. Again, we will split the class with their retreat and college visit day. This retreat will involve pre-retreat learning and reflection through the Theology III (Catholic Social Teaching) class, and will also have a post-retreat component. The focus of this retreat will be service to those in need, and how we can continue to live out a life of service.
Seniors: Kairos 13, which was to begin on the day that we suspended on campus learning, was the second Kairos retreat for the class of 2020, and cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Given the current situation with the virus in Arizona, it does not appear possible that we can reschedule this retreat. Due to similar considerations, it may be that we will only hold one Kairos retreat (Kairos 14) in the spring of 2021 for the class of 2021. The retreat may be held at La Purisima Retreat Center in Hereford, Arizona, however, we are exploring other locations to ensure the best available possibilities for our community. This three day, two night retreat is the capstone retreat experience at San Miguel, leading our seniors to know and experience the presence of Christ in our lives and how to live in that presence always.
Retreat Team! All interested juniors and seniors who would like to be a part of leading the freshmen and sophomore retreats will be provided an opportunity to apply to do so early in the first semester of 2020-2021.
